Gautrain has R4.5bn order book for M&R

The Gautrain rapid rail project represented a potential order book of R4.5 billion, Murray & Roberts (M&R), the construction and engineering firm, said yesterday.
"The capital cost estimate for the Gautrain project announced by the government recently represents a potential order book to the group of approximately R4.5 billion at current pricing levels, over a minimum five-year period."
The group is part of the Bombela consortium, which was chosen to build a R20 billion high-speed train linking Johannesburg with Pretoria. The project was given a boost by the upcoming 2010 soccer World Cup, but M&R said there was no legal link between the two.
