Reserve Bank governor casts deciding vote on repo rate
JOHANNESBURG - South Africa’s rand headed to the long weekend on a firmer footing supported by both the US Federal Reserve Bank and the SA Reserve Bank (Sarb) decision to keep their benchmark repo rates steady this week which halted the decline in the faltering local unit.

Finance committee receive reply from finance minister

Cosatu to strike in Gauteng over state capture
CAPE TOWN - South Africa’s economic hub of Gauteng is expected to take a huge knock when thousands of Cosatu members down tools and embark on a national strike tomorrow.The planned national shutdown by the labour federation was against the scourge of corruption and the capture of key state institutions by rogue elements in close proximity to the ruling elite.

Mpact not involved in wage talks with Numsa
JOHANNESBURG - Mpact, which was spun out of Mondi, said on Friday that it was not involved with wage negotiations with the National Union of Metal Workers of South Africa (Numsa). The company was responding to reports that its workers in Pinetown had gone on a strike following a breakdown in negotiations.
