President Jacob Zuma will face a grilling from MPs on Wednesday, a few weeks after he survived a motion of no-confidence in his leadership.
Zuma’s appearance in the National Assembly comes as the ANC cracks down on MPs who voted against him.
Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa last week defended the ANC’s action against its MPs over the motion of no confidence.
Ramaphosa said this was an internal party matter. He said the ANC should be given space to deal with internal matters.
However, Zuma will not be spared as opposition MPs want answers on state capture and the state of the economy.
During his last appearance in Parliament in June, Zuma promised MPs he would set up a commission of inquiry into state capture.
But opposition parties are getting agitated, saying they could not wait for more delays on the establishment of the inquiry now that the Guptas were selling their assets.
Zuma has been accused of involvement in state capture, but had denied wrongdoing and said there was nothing wrong with his son Duduzane doing business with the Guptas.
Opposition parties are expected to demand answers on state capture and the date for the establishment of the commission.
