TONGAAT - A shocking incident unfolded on Monday morning on Buffelsdraai Road in KwaZulu-Natal when a bus driver was shot and numerous passengers robbed during a brazen attack. The victims recounted their harrowing experience to members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) shortly after the incident occurred.

The bus, which was en route to Verulam, became a target when four male assailants posing as regular passengers brandished firearms.

According to RUSA, in a frightening turn of events, the suspects shot the driver twice, prompting fear and chaos among the approximately twenty passengers onboard. Following the attack, the bus veered off the road, crashing into a bush at the roadside as it careened out of control.

A passerby then jumped into action, providing immediate assistance to the injured driver and transporting him to a nearby hospital. His condition remains unclear as medical teams work to assess his wounds and administer care, said RUSA.

The assailants, described by witnesses as young males, fled the scene on foot, leaving a trail of fear and apprehension in their wake. RUSA reaction officers have since launched an extensive search for the gunmen, said the company in a statement.
