A 40-year-old man was abducted from his home in Temple Valley, Verulam, and sexually assaulted in a remote area on Wednesday morning

The distressing event has not only left the victim emotionally shaken but has raised concerns about safety in the community.

According to reports, the victim was taken from his residence at approximately 03:30am by two men, one of whom is reportedly known to him.

Once driven away in a BMW, the victim was subjected to torment, which was apparently related to his discussions with local residents about the illegal activities of his alleged abductors.

The victim saidd that he was injected with an unknown drug, which diminished his ability to fend off his abductors.

The vehicle was halted at the corner of Republic Street and Trevenen Road, where the driver handed over cash to his accomplice.

The duo then dragged into nearby bushes where the sexual assault took place.

His desperate cries for help caught the attention of two men walking along a nearby railway line, who rushed to his aid, which resulted in the suspects fleeing from the scene.

The victim was able to emerge from the bush  and approached a passerby, who notified the Reaction Unit South Africa's (RUSA) Operations Centre.

RUSA's officers attended the scene and found the barefooted-man, dressed in pyjama shorts and a t-shirt, and visibly shaken.

He received medical attention and was expected to register a criminal case against his abductors. The incident has sent ripples of fear through the local community, triggering discussions on safety measures and the need for vigilance.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspects or the incident to come forward as they work to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore a sense of security for the residents of Temple Valley.
