‘White genocide, claim but Gaza ignored
President Donald Trump’s repeated false claims about “white genocide” taking place in South Africa during a meeting with President Cyril Ramaphosa, was a white supremacist effort to discredit Ramaphosa.
Trump’s cunning spectacle in front of international media representatives is in keeping with the narrative of his so-called “white genocide”.Instead of infuriating the well composed and calm South African president, carrot-top Trump’s ‘moment of foolishness’ was exposed.
With all the fact checking and numerous other specialised tools and resources at the disposal of his presidential assistants to examine and research the truth and present a factual presentation, Trump’s grotesque reality show was one of extremely dangerous propaganda and misinformation that was sourced from right-wing racist social media accounts and conspiracy-spreaders. I would like to remind Trump and his allies of Naomi Klein’s statement “staging a show-and-tell about a fake genocide during a real genocide to the government that has done the most to seek justice for that real genocide is designed to break our brains.
“They know what they are doing”. I believe, history will harshly judge these muted Western leaders for staying silent during a genocide that is taking place in real time in Gaza.
Due to the silence of most global leaders, innocent children, women and men are being deliberately murdered in Palestine not only since October 2023 but since 1947. | MOHAMED SAEED Pietermaritzburg
Trump exposed mass media’s ‘complacency
BLINDED by its anathema towards Donald Trump, the mass media’s capacity to distort and ignore truth knows no bounds.
Trump’s meeting with Ramaphosa facilitated a new high in that process.
The existence of 140 laws and regulations which discriminate against whites and the ongoing torturing and murdering of white farmers is a heinous reality. It is utterly reprehensible to downplay and minimise the extreme seriousness of this reality.
Yet that is exactly what the mass media has done by focusing selectively on video footage Trump screened which happens to be peripheral to the issue of white genocide. By chorusing that ‘evidence’ debunks the claim of genocide, the mass media gravely distorts the truth.
Sadly reinforcing that distortion is the recent high court ruling that Malema’s blood-thirsty demagoguery does not constitute hate speech or incitement. But besides being legal lunacy, the court’s stance does nothing to diminish the dire threat to whites.
Although it is true that no mass slaughter of whites is currently occurring, there is incontrovertible evidence that such slaughter – genocide – is intended. Julius Malema provides that evidence which Trump screened of him inciting mass hatred and killing of whites.
By asking Ramaphosa why Malema is not arrested, Trump posed the question sane and law-abiding persons have long been asking.
That Malema is untouched by the law makes a mockery of the constitution.
Yet when Vicky Momberg, a white person, used the ‘K’ word she was sentenced to two years in prison.
The late Penny Sparrow, a pensioner, was impoverished by being fined R150 000 for a derogatory reference to blacks in a social media post.
Fortunately, Trump has done truth a massive favour by posting Malema’s genocidal intentions for all to see and realise, despite the mass media’s attempts to downplay that reality. | DR DUNCAN DU BOIS Bluff
Attack on journalists was unwarranted
I am shocked by how some so-called “truly South African writers” can applaud the cowardly manner in which US President Donald Trump tried to bushwhack our president, using his Oval Office advantage, surrounded and supported by his own lackeys.
Also, true high-class breeding is demonstrated only by the polite manner in which we treat the most disadvantaged classes of people around us. Even the Bible shouts makes this clear. And we should know that journalists are not the highest paid personnel around. Jobs are difficult to obtain worldwide now, so quite often, for want of a better, safer vocation, people grab whatever is available.
And the fact that journalists are not being protected has been clearly illustrated by the large number that are being continuously targeted, as prominently exemplified in Palestine. Quite often, these brave news reporters are trampled upon. People are rude to them when interviews are requested. They are bullied, sworn at, and even violently attacked whilst attempting to hone in on bringing the facts to our faces.
What kind of message is the “topmost” president of the “topmost” democracy passing on to the rest of us ordinary citizens when he stoops to calling reporters in his White House “idiots” and continues to do so even when the central focus of the discussion has shifted elsewhere? Is that really in order?
And is it in order for our very educated “professors” to write trash to praise this false demigod? | EBRAHIM ESSA Musgrave
