Sundowns’ 2-1 loss to Pyramids in the finals of the African Champions league has set tongues wagging on X

@Masandawana Our African journey didn’t end the way we wanted, but the road to greatness is built on setbacks – and we’re not done building! Thank you for all of your support on this journey. Win or lose, our hearts beat yellow!

@Dagama_phintj Sundowns’ performance was underwhelming. Despite dominating possession, they lacked creativity and urgency in the final third. Their slow build-up play and inability to penetrate Pyramids FC’s disciplined defense made them predictable and ineffective.

@CircusRecipe Pyramids were just better. They played their heart out & knew that it’s earned, not deserved. Love Sundowns, love the coach but there was a certain lethargy with them I suspect was due in part to feeling that it’s already written in the stars & also being scared of the occasion.

@kappilinho It’s really sad to see a team that dominates local football so much, struggling this much in a final. Why didn’t Sundown's press Pyramids’ defenders?

@1458BenMamelodi Sundowns must just accept that Pyramids were better than them. If you know football you would see from the Pirates game that Pyramids is a very Tactical team.

@Ta_Fitty Pyramids players are fit, they ran for 100 minutes, didn’t give Sundowns space on the ball.

@Vusumuzi23Vusi Nah man, Pirates kids gave Pyramids more sweat that Sundowns, Pyramids had a harder semis final than this final. Sundowns are too lethargic and slow for a team with the most expensive squad in Africa. They can do better.

@Jojo_Ntsoane Our defence gave them goals both legs, Sundown’s biggest problem is defence. Had we had good defence, we would have easily won this, It was the same mistake they made with Wydad and Esperance. Is not because Pyramids were good, we played better teams than Pyramids and triumphed.

@ThatoMajola Pyramids vs Pirates in the SF 2nd leg was tougher for Pyramids than Sundowns in the Finals. Coaches are getting into the psyche of Sundowns. Praising them and reinforcing the idea of Sundowns as a possession team with patient build up. Teams want them to play that way.

@Tom47096338 We don’t care anymore about this small team, no matter who you put in it’s a flop. Pyramids played against Pirates, Sundowns saw that game, they played Pyramids first leg, but in the second leg they play like they never learned anything in the past few weeks

.@thegreatlesiba 1. Sundowns underestimated Pyramids based on how Pirates gave away that semi final game in Cairo. 2. Sundowns dominating the PSL hasn’t really done good to them.

@MSFC__ Miguel Cardoso and Flemming Berg must leave our FC as soon as possible. They have failed in their assignment at Mamelodi Sundowns. We can’t praise them for winning the league title, as we’ve won it multiple times without them.
