The Domestic Goddess unwittingly revealed a large bunion on her left foot as she strolled with a friend in Sydney.
The 51-year-old is not known for a fondness for wearing high heels, which over time can cause bunions, but had still fallen victim to the painful bump familiar to women everywhere.
A bunion is an inflammation at the base of the big toe joint, which is exacerbated by shoes rubbing against it.
High-profile sufferers include Victoria Beckham - and it is a common problem among women, largely as a result of high heels, which throw the wearer’s weight forward on to the toes and put pressure on the big toe joint.
Sufferers tend to have lax tendons and ligaments - the bands of fibrous tissue that join the bones and muscles. If these are not as taut as they should be, the top of the big toe drifts towards the other toes. This causes the bottom of the toe bone to stick out, creating a bump on the side of the foot.
Once a bunion has developed, custom-made insoles in flat shoes can help alleviate the pain, but surgery is the only way to cure the condition.
Miss Lawson - who is married to advertising guru and art collector Charles Saatchi, 67 - is in Australia to film a new series of MasterChef. She will make a guest appearance alongside Rick Stein and Heston Blumenthal.
The celebrity chef is known for showing off her curves in tight-fitting outfits on her television shows.
