NBCUniversal has officially signed a multi-year collaboration with Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Pictures.
The agreement comes after years of productive partnerships with the rapper, which have paved the way for the expansion of creative ventures across television, film and live entertainment.
The partnership will allow NBCUniversal to have first-look rights on film and television concepts from Death Row Pictures, which will now make its home at Universal Studios.
“Not everyone has the courage and vision to see what Death Row Pictures can bring to the table, but Donna and the NBCUniversal team have always understood, which is why I am proud to call NBCUniversal my new home.
"The Dogg has officially moved into the neighbourhood, ya dig?" shared the hip hop icon and seasoned entrepreneur through a statement.
One of the first major projects under this collaboration is set to be a feature-length biopic that chronicles Snoop’s remarkable journey from Long Beach to becoming a global hip-hop icon.
The film is poised to deliver an authentic portrayal of the rapper's life and legacy, with Universal Pictures banking on its history of successful music-themed films like "Straight Outta Compton" and "8 Mile".
The biopic will be brought to life by a creative team that includes writer Joe Robert Cole, known for his work on "Black Panther", and director Allen Hughes of "Menace II Society" fame.
Production is set to start in early 2025, and casting for a fresh face to play the rapper is underway.
Snoop Dogg's collaboration with NBCUniversal does not stop at film. He is also set to return as a coach for season 28 of award-winning series, "The Voice".
Snoop Dogg took to Instagram to share the news with his fans and followers.
He wrote: "Death Row Pictures. NBCUniversal. We up 👊🏿🙏🏿👏🏿 Thank you, family @nbc @nbcuniversal 🎥 🎞️ let’s get 2 work."
The chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios, Donna Langley, lauded the rapper, saying: "Audiences around the world love Snoop and connect with his unparalleled showmanship and artistry. There’s only one Snoop, and we’re so excited for him to join our unbelievable roster of creative partners."
With an illustrious career that has seen him release 21 studio albums and sell over 40 million copies worldwide, Snoop Dogg stands as a multi-platinum rapper, actor and entrepreneur.
Recognised as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2025, he has transformed his artistic endeavours into an empire that spans across Web 3.0, tech, lifestyle and the cannabis business.
Meanwhile, the rapper is gearing up for the release of his latest musical offering, "Altar Call", his second gospel album.
The album promises to delve deeper into themes of faith and personal reflection, honouring the memory of his beloved mother, Beverly Tate, who passed away in 2021.
