Candice King and Steven Krueger announce their engagement after two years of dating

Co-stars Candice King and Steven Krueger have announced that they are now engaged after nearly two years of dating.

The lovebirds, who co-starred on “The Vampire Diaries” spin-off “The Originals” took to social media on Wednesday, May 14, to share the exciting news of their engagement with their fans. 

The 38-year-old actress shared a carousel post on Instagram showing moments from the special day and also showcased her square-shaped diamond ring.

King, who was also celebrating her 38th birthday, captioned her post: “I think 38 just might be my favourite year yet. A couple of weeks ago, @stevenakrueger gave me the best gift of all when he asked me to marry him.

“The privilege of getting older is much sweeter knowing I get to share it with you, Steven. Thank you for asking me to dance through life with you. And thank you to everyone for the kind birthday wishes,” she added. 

Krueger also posted on his Instagram story and shared a picture from when he proposed King with a heartwarming caption.

“Can’t believe she agreed to put up with me forever. Doesn’t get any better than her,” he wrote.

Congratulatory comments from fans and friends flooded King’s Instagram post.

“The Vampire Diaries” actress, Claire Holt, wrote: “So happy for you both.”

Riley Voelkel, “The Originals” cast member commented: “Omg screaming!!! So happy for you both!”

Entertainment reporter and podcaster Tommy DiDario added: “My heart is bursting! Can’t wait to celebrate you two in a couple of weeks.”

King and Krueger's dating rumours started swirling around in 2022 after they were seen spending time together multiple times. 

In 2023, the lovebirds became Instagram official and put the dating rumours to rest after King posted a video of them kissing. 

The couple continues to show their love for each other and to post each other on their social media pages.
