Skai Jackson, the former Disney star, has filed for a restraining order against Deondre Burgin, the father of her three-month-old son, Kasai.
According to court documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Jackson alleges that Burgin has subjected her to physical and emotional abuse throughout their relationship.
The abuse reportedly escalated during her pregnancy, with Burgin allegedly making violent threats and engaging in destructive behaviour.
She alleges that on Mother’s Day, the situation turned violent when Burgin allegedly attacked her, grabbing her by the hair and slamming her head against a car window while she held their infant baby.
The 23-year-old actress claims Burgin physically abused her multiple times in 2024, including choking, scratching, and slamming her head against walls.
She alleges that he demanded she drink bleach to kill their child while she was still pregnant and threatened her life with a knife, saying he would stab her if she screamed for help. The child star welcomed baby Kasai in January.
According to Jackson, one of the incidents of abuse involved Burgin breaking into the bathroom where she was hiding and allegedly choking her until she lost her breath. Jackson claims to have video evidence of the assault.
Jackson also claims that 21-year-old Burgin owns three firearms, including a rifle, which has intensified her concerns for her safety.
He also has a history of legal issues and was reportedly serving a 90-day jail sentence for a parole violation when Jackson gave birth to their son in January.
Jackson is seeking a restraining order to keep Burgin at a distance from her, their child, and her pets. She is also requesting that the father of her child be ordered to go through a domestic violence treatment program, child support and reimbursement for her legal fees.
Given Burgin’s history of violence and possession of firearms, Jackson fears for her safety and that of her child. A temporary restraining order has been issued, and a court hearing is set for June 9 to further review the matter.
Jackson’s decision to secure a restraining order against Burgin follows a similar path taken by actress Halle Bailey, who recently filed for a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend DDG due to allegations of abuse.
Bailey, who shares a 16-month-old son, Halo, with DDG, also sought sole legal and physical custody of their child.
