Award-winning actor Michael B. Jordan is set to add another feather to his cap.

The "Sinners" and "Creed III" star, will receive the prestigious American Cinematheque Award in November.

The announcement was made recently by the American Cinematheque, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to celebrating and advancing the art of cinema.

The awards ceremony will take place on November 20 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

Each year, the American Cinematheque Award is presented to artists who demonstrate extraordinary contributions to the cinematic arts.

Previous honorees of award include luminaries such as Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, Robin Williams, Mel Gibson and Steven Spielberg among others.

Rick Nicita, chair of the American Cinematheque board, expressed admiration for Jordan's significant impact on the film industry.

"The career of Michael B. Jordan has been an unparalleled showcase for the combination of superb talent and purposeful vision that has made him a major power in today’s movie business," he said.

He continued: "He has become a prolific producer with multiple projects across our business, and his philanthropic activities are many and wide-ranging. Most recently, his outstanding performances (yes, two performances) in the worldwide smash 'Sinners' have cemented his place in the upper tier of movie stars, now and in the future."

Jordan first made waves with his captivating performance in "Fruitvale Station," after which he solidified his movie star status with iconic roles in "Black Panther" and the "Creed" series.

Notably, he marked his directorial debut with "Creed III", which opened as the highest-grossing sports film debut in history.

"Sinners", an R-rated vampire movie directed by Ryan Coogler, has received critical acclaim and grossed over $240 million at the domestic box office, proving Jordan's star power continues to soar.

Next, Jordan is set to direct, produce and star in a remake of "The Thomas Crown Affair" under his own production company, Outlier Society banner.

Jordan's recognition does not stop at the American Cinematheque Award.

He was also named a Time 100 honoree, earned the Academy Museum Vanguard Award and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In an online interview, the multi-talented star said: "I’m not ignorant of the blessings and opportunities that I’m given. At the same time, I still feel like I have something to prove. I still feel like I want to make people proud. I want to make myself proud, so I’m constantly trying to raise the bar."

Earlier this week, Tom Cruise, who received the award in 1997, praised him as the future of the movie industry, saying: "I’m a huge fan of his. That film 'Sinners' is amazing. We’re going to make a movie together."
