Black Coffee, real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo, has rattled some feathers with his latest reshared Instagram story post.

The post has sparked controversy among his fans, with many taking to social media to express their shock and disappointment.

The Instagram story features a reshared picture, which was initially posted by his girlfriend Victoria Gonzalez, with the caption “2019 vs 2025,” which has raised eyebrows due to the DJ’s complicated romantic timeline.

Fans have pointed out that the caption seems to suggest that Black Coffee was already with his current girlfriend, Gonzalez, in 2019, the same year he separated from his ex-wife in July.

This revelation has led many to question the nature of his relationships and sparked allegations of infidelity. The timing of this post is particularly notable, given that Black Coffee seemingly confirmed his relationship with Gonzalez in April.

Gonzalez shared a post captioned “From Africa with love,” and the “Wish You Were Here” hitmaker commented with an affectionate term, “Cariño,” which translates to “darling” in English.

This followed months of speculation about their relationship, which first surfaced in 2023 when they were spotted together on a safari trip and later at a luxurious fashion brand event.

The backlash has been swift, with fans taking to social media to share their thoughts and feelings about the situation. While some have defended Black Coffee, others have expressed their shock.

X user @ValentineTrvth said: “He separated from Enhle in July 2019. Also, that could also mean they were already heading for that even before the official separation. So y’all gotta calm down.”

X user @TheoSmithie commented: “Haibo.... Which 2019 😳😳😳😳”

While @TheRealSiyah commented: “Wdym (what do you mean) 2019 ???? Yho! I hate men 🚮”

Black Coffee was married to renowned actress and fashion designer, Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa. The two were married from 2011 until their divorce in 2019, and they share two children together.

Their relationship, including legal battles and public statements, has been in the public eye. In November 2020, the Johannesburg High Court ordered Black Coffee to pay R15 000 monthly spousal maintenance and R50 000 in child support.

The situation follows a request from the actress for Black Coffee to provide over R131 000 in monthly support, broken down into R80 000 for their two children’s care, R30 000 for household expenses, and R17 800 for her beauty cosmetics expenses.

In 2024, Black Coffee shared on “Podcast and Chill with MacG” that he has ruled out remarriage, stating, “Today, I know for a fact I won’t get married again. I’m clear about that because I am now in a better space in understanding who I am.”

He also reflected on the reasons behind his separation, citing that he and Mlotshwa grew apart and sought different things.

“I think I can safely say we both started wanting different things. If I can’t say we, I’ll say I did. Over time, we started wanting different things, and problems started,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Black Coffee has been romanticising his relationship on Instagram, resharing pictures posted by Gonzalez on his stories, giving a glimpse into their romance.
