South Africa’s vibrant R&B and neo-soul scene will once again command the spotlight as Once Upon a Time in Joburg returns for its highly anticipated second edition on June 21, 2025.

Set against the picturesque backdrop of James and Ethel Gray Park, this festival is poised to be an enchanting celebration of music and culture, running from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

This year's festival shines a light on two of South Africa’s most cherished musical talents, Shekhinah and Nanette. With her soulful ballads and introspective lyrics, Shekhinah has firmly secured her place in the hearts of many South African music lovers, famous for hits like "Suited" and "Fixate".

Meanwhile, Nanette is making waves with her unique sound that marries vulnerability with style, resonating deeply with a younger audience eager for authentic soul music.

On the international stage, festival-goers will be treated to performances by UK artist Sasha Keable, whose jazz-infused R&B compositions are sure to captivate, and American sensation GoldLink, renowned for his innovative approach to music that fuses various genres.

Their participation marks a significant endeavour to bridge local artistry with global talent, amplifying the festival's mission to elevate R&B and neo-soul in the region.

Organised by Dr. Bird Productions, the festival is more than a mere concert; it's a transformative platform aimed at avant-garde growth in South Africa’s music landscape.

The inaugural event in March 2024 set a formidable standard, featuring remarkable performances from artists including Lord Kez, Marcus Harvey, Simmy, and Xavier Omar, leaving attendees craving more of this soulful journey.
