David Beckham to be honoured with a knighthood in King’s birthday honours

David Beckham, the legendary English footballer, is set to receive a knighthood in the King’s Birthday Honours list next week.
The news was first reported by The Sun, marking a significant milestone in Beckham’s life and career.
The 50-year-old father of four has long been considered a prime candidate for the honour, thanks to his extraordinary contributions to football and charity.
He was previously honoured by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2003, when he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to football.
At the time, Beckham had already achieved remarkable success on the pitch, having captained the England national team.
Beckham, a Manchester United legend and now the owner of Inter Miami, retired from professional football in 2013 but has continued to serve as an ambassador for British sport and culture.
His work with charities, including UNICEF. He has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for 20 years, advocating for children's rights and raising awareness on issues like education, health, and protection.
With the knighthood, Beckham will become "Sir David Beckham", and his wife, fashion designer and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, will assume the courtesy title "Lady Beckham".
The honour comes amid reports of personal tensions within the Beckham family.
According to various sources, there has been an ongoing rift between David and Victoria and their eldest son, Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham.
Though the exact reasons for the reported tension have not been publicly confirmed, it is understood that family dynamics have been strained since Brooklyn’s marriage in 2022.
