Jennifer Lopez is once again proving her triple-threat talents as she steps into the spotlight in the much-anticipated film adaptation of "Kiss of the Spider Woman"

The first trailer for the musical extravaganza has dropped and offers a tantalising glimpse of Lopez as Ingrid Luna/Aurora, an old Hollywood starlet whose captivating presence ignites the imagination of an imprisoned window dresser.

The trailer opens with a touching exchange between Molina, played by rising star Tonatiuh, and his cellmate Valentín (Diego Luna): "What’s your favourite movie?" Molina asks, only to be met with Valentín’s dismissive, “I don’t have one".

The conversation deepens as Molina says: "I couldn’t live without movies. One of them, I’ll never forget, 'Kiss of the Spider Woman'."

As the story progresses, viewers are treated to a contrast between Molina’s gritty reality and his dreamy escapades with Aurora, courtesy of Lopez's stunning musical numbers.

Jennifer Lopez plays an old Hollywood screen goddess named Aurora who the character Molina obsesses over. He even has her movie posters hanging in his prison cell.

The climactic moment of the trailer features Lopez delivering a powerful rendition of the title track declaring, "You can run, you can scream, you can hide, but you cannot escape".

Tonatiuh shared on Instagram: "It brings me so much joy to share this teaser. Mark your calendars - @kissofthespiderwomanfilm is hitting theatres on Oct 10th."

Lopez simply replied with emojis: "💋🕷️💃🏽."

Lopez, who doubles as an executive producer alongside Luna, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon shared the significance of this project during its premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation.

"I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life. The reason I even wanted to be in this business is because my mum would sit me in front of the TV and 'West Side Story' would come on once a year. I remember I was mesmerised and was like, 'That’s what I want to do'.

"This is the first time I actually got to do it. This man ( Bill Condon) made my dream come true," she said.

Bill Condon, an award-winning filmmaker known for his successful musicals such as "Dreamgirls" and "Beauty and the Beast", serves as director, co-writer and executive producer.

Based on the acclaimed 1976 novel by Manuel Puig, which later became a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical by Terrence McNally, the film promises to honour the legacy of its stage predecessors while captivating a new generation of audiences.
