Prepare for a nostalgic trip down memory lane as the Pointer Sisters are set to take to the stage in Gauteng this weekend.
The legendary US R&B group’s performance is part of their “I’m So Excited World Tour.”
The trio, which comprises Ruth Pointer, together with her daughter, Issa and granddaughter, Sadako, will serenade fans at Cape Town Grand Arena on Saturday, March 29, before making an appearance in Pretoria on Sunday, March 30.
Their Mzansi shows will also include backing from their full American band and fans can expect to hear their repertoire of hits from the 70s and 80s.
The Pointer Sisters have been captivating audiences for decades with their signature blend of pop, soul and funk. Founded by sisters Ruth, Anita, Bonnie, and June, the group rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s with hits like “I’m So Excited”, “Fire”, and “Jump (For My Love)”. Ruth has now continued their legacy with family still at the forefront of their operations.
“Together, they bring a fresh yet nostalgic energy to the stage, keeping The Pointer Sisters’ timeless sound alive for new and old fans alike,” a statement read.
They added: “The Pointer Sisters promise an evening of non-stop energy and nostalgia and fans can expect a set list packed with their Grammy-winning hits and global chart-toppers that have been the soundtrack to decades of memories.”
Meanwhile, the powerhouse trio spent much of last year on tour in the US with the Commodores, followed by a “Legends of Love” show with Billy Ocean in October.

Johannesburg City Marathon
Join one of Jozi's biggest races this weekend at the Johannesburg City Marathon.
Presented by the Johannesburg Harriers Athletics Club, the annual gathering has earned a stellar reputation over the years as it has now become known as the “Race of Gold”.
While entries for the 21km marathon are closed, participants can still part in the 10km and 42km races.
In addition, this race event is an essential Comrades Marathon qualifier and for those who have already qualified, it also serves as an excellent training preparation for the big race which will take place in KwaZulu-Natal in June.
Walkers are welcome on the half marathon and the 10km race but they are strictly prohibited from the full marathon. All finishers within the 12pm cut-off receive a medal, whilst the top finishers are awarded cash prizes at the event prize giving.
Where: The Klipriviersberg Recreation Centre in Kibler Park.
When: Sunday, March 30, from 5.30am.

The Pretoria Zoo Family Fun Day
While the sun is still out and before the chilly autumn weather conditions set in, enjoy a day of fun and adventure with loved ones at The Pretoria Zoo Family Fun Day.

There are also other activities available at an additional cost, including the mobile train (R30), the parachute activity (R30), and the 360 Photo booth (R100 per family- maximum of 3 persons). Each adult ticket also includes a 50g bag of colour powder.
