South Africa’s netball Proteas showcased their strength with a commanding victory over Uganda’s She Cranes in the opening match of the Vitality Netball Nations Cup on Saturday.
The Vitality Netball Nations Cup – between South Africa, England, Uganda and Malawi – will start on Saturday at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.
After a challenging series against Jamaica, Proteas coach Jenny van Dyk expressed pride in her team’s resilience, and looks forward to the Vitality Netball Nations Cup.
Head coach for the Proteas, Jenny van Dyk, said the second consecutive loss to Jamaica was disappointing, but took away some positives from the defeat.
Proteas coach Jenny van Dyk said that their third-ranked rivals Jamaica will be minus two first-choice shooters, and that the African champions would be hoping to capitalise on that.
Jamaica, currently ranked third in the world behind Australia and New Zealand, will be formidable opponents, and the South Africans have only won three of their 18 encounters.
Netball South Africa on Wednesday afternoon announced that Jenny van Dyk had been appointed as the new head coach of the Proteas.
