For many women, their wedding day is one of the most important days of their lives.
So naturally they want to feel beautiful, confident, and like a star on the day.
This bride, however, has taken things too far to make sure that she is indeed the centre of attention on her special day.
In a post on Reddit’s “Am I the A**hole” page, a 24-year-old woman shared that her sister, 27, had recently asked her to be a bridesmaid.
At first, she was excited, but that quickly turned to discomfort when she realised the rest of the bridal party didn’t include any of the bride’s close friends.
Instead, it was filled with ladies that the bride barely knew and whom she previously mocked for being “awkward” or “not photogenic.”
Confused, the sister asked about the odd choices.
The bride’s response? “You’ll understand when it’s your wedding. You don’t want people who’ll outshine you in your own pictures.”
The sister, who was taken aback, continued to ask her about her decision.
“So you picked them because you think they’ll make you look better?”
The bride rolled her eyes and said, “It’s not that deep. I just want to feel confident that day, and I’m allowed to be a little selfish for my wedding.”
Because the sister did not feel comfortable about it, saying that she didn’t want to be part of a bridal party built on tearing other people down.
She feels that her sister should have picked people she actually cares about.
Now, the bride is calling her sister “judgmental,” and their mother is siding with the bride.
The sister has now turned to Reddit users to find out if she is the a**hole for not wanting to be part of the bridal party.
“NTA - so what does this mean about how she thinks of you? And clearly she doesn’t think much about herself? It’s so sad that women are pushed to feel and act this way when this would likely not be happening to so many grooms. Applause to you for saying something and not participating,” responded one person.
Another agreed saying, “NTA. It is mean girl/catty behaviour. Yes, she deserves to feel beautiful on her special day, but she's ugly on the inside for doing this, even if no one else knows.”
“NTA. Your sister is shallow,” another simply responded.
