As questions mount about the true number of children Elon Musk has fathered, an old rumour has resurfaced - that Musk may be the biological father of Amber Heard’s daughter.

According to a recent Wall Street Journal exposé, Musk may have fathered far more than the 14 children he publicly acknowledges.

This revelation has reignited rumours about his former relationship with actress Amber Heard, and whether her daughter, born via surrogate in 2021, is in fact his child.

The legal dispute over embryos

Musk and Heard dated from 2016 to 2018. Following their breakup, they were reportedly embroiled in a private legal dispute over frozen embryos the pair had created while together.

A sworn declaration from 2022, signed by Jennifer Howell — a close friend of Heard’s sister, Whitney, alleged that Musk sought to have the embryos destroyed, while Heard wanted to keep them in order to have a child.

“She was in a legal battle with Musk over embryos they had created together. He wanted to destroy them, and Amber tried to keep them to have a baby,” Howell wrote.

The statement, however, was not admitted as evidence during the defamation trial between Heard and Johnny Depp, after Heard’s legal team challenged its admissibility.

In July 2021, Heard revealed she had welcomed her daughter via surrogate. She stated that she had made the decision to become a parent in 2017 - at the time when she was still publicly linked to Musk. Since then, Heard has maintained strict privacy about the child’s paternity and now lives quietly in Spain.

Financial offers, the fixer and confidentiality

The Wall Street Journal report goes further, alleging that Musk has a dedicated confidante, Jared Birchal, who serves as his "fixer", negotiating agreements with women Musk selects as potential mothers. These discussions reportedly include substantial financial compensation and strict confidentiality conditions.

One such case involves Ashley St Clair, a 26-year-old conservative influencer, who allegedly received an offer of $15 million (R285 million) upfront, and $100,000 (R1.9 million) per month to keep details about their son private.

The same report claims Musk had approached cryptocurrency influencer Tiffany Fong via X, after interacting with her posts. Despite never meeting in person, Musk reportedly proposed they conceive a child. Fong is said to have declined.

Known mothers and a gated community

Musk is publicly known to have fathered children with four women:

Insiders allege that Musk has encouraged some of the mothers to live in the same gated community, reportedly to raise the children in close proximity.

How many children are there?

The true number of Musk’s children remains unclear. While the billionaire has openly spoken about his commitment to increasing global birth rates, sources close to him suggest the actual count may be well above 14.
