Those attending the Hankook Land Cruiser Festival this weekend can look forward to a feast of unique vehicles and fun activities.

The event, which takes place at the Sondela Nature Reserve & Spa near Bela Bella, from Friday June 6 to Sunday, June 8, also includes another Land Cruiser Africa record attempt.

The event will host over 50 exhibitors, showing off various products, upgrades, equipment and vehicles. This includes a trio of six-wheel Land Cruiser 70 models built by Ulterio Motiv.

These comprise a Land Cruiser 79 2.8 GD-6 Single Cab 6x6, LC 79 2.8 GD-6 Double Cab 6x6, and SVI Engineering’s Max 3 Six-Wheeler for military use. In the latter vehicle, Ulterio Motiv has converted the chassis to accommodate three axles and 6x4 capability.

The aim of these products is to supply chassis to customers who want a bespoke product or a blank canvas for a vehicle that can be built up for camping, emergency services or off-road load carrying to their own specification.

Dubbed the ultimate incarnation of the Land Cruiser, the 6x6 not only allows customers to tackle off-road excursions with confidence, but the GVM increases to a substantial 6,050kg, which is 2,850 kg up on that of the standard vehicle.

This is achieved by installing a third axle at the rear of the Land Cruiser’s chassis. The additional axle as well as the existing rear axle are upgraded, offering more load carrying ability. This set-up, in combination with three differential locks, allow for the ultimate in off-road prowess, Ulterio Motiv says.

The company's mechanical expert and vehicle builder, Juan Vosloo, along with its Business Development Director Nicol Louw, will be present during most of the show to engage with showgoers and interested parties.
