Leather and alloys for new RunX models

Published

Toyota SA has replaced its RunX 140RS and 160RS models with two "special editions" - a RunX 140 Sport and the RunX 160 Sport.

The Sport, Toyota says, adds fresh exterior and interior styling and enhanced specification to the RS package, including a tailgate-top aerofoil lifted from the RunX RX and RSi, 16" alloy rims from the RSi, side protection mouldings and body-colour door releases and "Sport" badges.

It also adds about R5000 to the prices of the replaced models.

There's full leather on its sporty bucket seats, door panels and trim in dark grey with red stitching, red panel inserts and a red Sport logo in the centre of the rear backrest. Black overlay mats have red and black binding and the leather-wrapped steering wheel carried remote control for the audio system.

The 1.4 engine is capable of 71kW at 6000rpm and 127Nm at 4800rpm and the 1.6 of 81kW at 6000rpm and146Nm at 4400rpm.

Air-conditioning and anti-lock disc brakes come with the package along with power-assisted steering, transponder-equipped keys, immobiliser and remote-controlled alarm with central locking.

Crash-protection is taken care of with two front crash bags and pre-tensioners on the seat belts, the long-legged will appreciate having a height-adjustable driver's seat and there's a trip data computer to play with along with power operation for the front windows and external mirrors and a radio/CD-player with a six-disc magazine.
