A former Cape Town area court manager has been charged with indecent assault for allegedly touching two staff members inappropriately.
Kenneth Sikiti, of Kuils River, is accused of one count of indecent assault and one of sexual assault for allegedly making sexual advances to two Justice Department staff. He appeared in the Cape Town Regional Court on Friday.
The identities of the women are being withheld because they are allegedly victims of a sex offence.
The matter was reported and criminal charges were instituted against Sikiti. He has been dismissed after an internal disciplinary hearing. The trial started in November last year.
Sikiti has pleaded not guilty.
Provocative e-mails were sent to Sikiti from one of the women, according to evidence. The women have denied having an affair with him.
On Friday, the court heard that court proceeding transcripts had to be obtained so that magistrate Herman Pieters could go through them and so that the State and Sikiti’s defence team could prepare before closing arguments. Sikiti is due back in court on August 24.
