Cape Town - Emergency services were called in to assist a climber who was injured, after a fall on Elsies Peak above Fish Hoek, early on Wednesday evening.
Members of the Mountain Rescue Service were notified of the incident and proceeded by road to the base of the mountain, from where they were able to assess the situation.
A rescue helicopter was called and an aerial rescue was undertaken. The patient was flown the short distance to the False Bay Hospital in Fish Hoek for assessment and treatment.
A spokesperson for the rescue team said that it appeared that the injured person was not alone when the accident occurred. He said that it appeared that the possible injuries included a broken leg and other possible limb damage.
A spokesperson for the hospital confirmed that the injured person had been made comfortable and was being fully assessed with regards to injuries.
The hospital would not confirm as to whether the climber was male or female and declined to give any further information .
