Body of second crocodile victim found

Published

The body of a woman who was attacked by a crocodile on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast was recovered late on Wednesday, police spokesperson Captain Vishnu Naidoo said.

He said members of the local community spotted the body of Sizakele Manyoni, 45, on the banks of the Enseleni River north of Empangeni.

They informed the police who removed the body.

Naidoo said the woman only sustained bite wounds to the hand and police believed that death was caused by drowning.

A post mortem would be done to confirm this.

Manyoni, who lived in a location in Enseleni, was attacked by a crocodile while crossing the river early Tuesday morning.

The spot where she was attacked is a well-frequented crossing place for the local community.

The attack was reported just four days after Johannesburg holidaymaker Tracy Hunt was killed by a crocodile in the St Lucia estuary. - Sapa
