Motorists always blame taxi drivers for bad driving, and complain in the media - but they're probably just as bad.
Taxi drivers are known to be the masters of bad driving. They don't obey any rules and regulations on the road and are a law unto themselves.
Johannesburg residents were this week livid about the behaviour of taxi drivers on the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and Bompas Road, heading towards Rosebank.
They complained that taxi drivers had ignored the road rules, making it hard for them to turn left into Bompas. There is a left-only turning lane on that road.
One of the residents told a Johannesburg radio station that it was a nightmare to use Bompas and Jan Smuts in the morning.
But are motorists any better than the taxi drivers? No they aren't.
On Friday, the Saturday Star monitored the intersection and found that motorists were just as guilty as the taxi drivers. They used the left-turn lane as a way to jump ahead of the queue of law-abiding motorists in the straight lane.
One motorist guilty of this behaviour told us shamelessly that he didn't use the correct lane because it was too slow. But, having said that, he begged us not to identify him.
And this breaking of the law doesn't seem to worry the Johannesburg metro police department because Wayne Minnaar, spokesperson for the department, said they were aware of the traffic congestion at Bompas and Jan Smuts.
"We send officers periodically to the intersection but we can't specify when we will be there because we have other responsibilities too."
