Conor McGregor apologises to his wife after losing rape case, forced to pay R4.5m in damages
Conor McGregor recently lost a civil rape case in Dublin’s High Court.
The plaintiff, Nikita Hand, accused him of assaulting her at a hotel in 2018, leading to significant physical and emotional harm.
The court awarded her £200,000 (R4,556,458) in damages.
McGregor denied all allegations, claiming the encounter was consensual, and said he planned to appeal the ruling.

The civil case was started after Irish prosecutors previously determined there was not enough evidence to meet the “beyond reasonable doubt” standard for a criminal case.
Critics argue McGregor's celebrity status may have influenced the outcome of earlier investigations.
McGregor, 36, issue an apology to his family, friends and fans on X on Monday, stating he was keen to move forward with his life and return to the UFC.
“People want to hear from me, I needed time. I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her outreaches. I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world. That’s all on me.
“As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all the witnesses present swore to that under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision.
“I can’t go back and I will move forward. I am beyond grateful to my family, friends and supporters all over the world who have stayed by my side.
That’s it. No more. Getting back to the gym - the fight game awaits!“

Mcgregor has not set foot in the octagon since UFC 264 in July 2021. In his last fight, McGregor lost to then-No.1 lightweight Dustin Poirier in the first round after a doctor stoppage.
Mcgregor withdrew from his fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in January, causing a last-minute change in the event’s line-up.
It remains to be seen if 'The Notorious' will ever return to the octagon.
