South African football fans will be able to watch their favourite Betway Premiership teams on free-to-air television after the SABC reached a sub-licensing agreement with SuperSport.
The move comes after the SABC and SuperSport had sub-licence agreements for the MTN8 as well as a Currie Cup semi-final, while the Springboks’ match against the All Blacks at Ellis Park was also televised by the public broadcaster.
The Premiership kicked off this past weekend following a delayed start to the season after Betway replaced DStv as the PSL’s top-flight headline sponsor.
“The latest sub-licence agreement with the SABC is another step towards a strong relationship with the public broadcaster, for the benefit of the millions of football lovers across the country and the African continent,” SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha said.
“The PSL has proven itself time and again to be the most coveted football product among South Africans and we look forward to delivering another outstanding season of football action on Your World of Champions, SuperSport.”

The league matches will be broadcast every Saturday on SABC1 during the league season.
“We are pleased with this acquisition, and it is another demonstration of our commitment to delivering exceptional sport content to our diverse audiences,” SABC Group CEO Nomsa Chabeli said.
“We will also be enhancing our coverage by strengthening the analysis team. This move will ensure that we provide insightful commentary and in-depth analysis for our viewers.”
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Itumeleng Khune, Jabu Mahlangu and coach Thabo Senong will be joining the SABC’s resident analysts Doctor Khumalo, Simphiwe Dludlu and Hlompho Kekana in studio.
