Hot on the heels of being selected to feature as an Apple Music cover star this Women’s Month, renowned musician Nomfundo Moh (real name Nomfundo Ngcobo) has dropped her third studio album, “Twenty Four”.
The nine-track album, which was released on Friday, August 2, marks a significant milestone in her career, as the title reflects her age.
“‘Twenty Four’ offers an intimate glimpse into Nomfundo’s thoughts, ideals and her unwavering belief in love, all encapsulated in her twenty-fourth year of life,” a statement read.
“With this album, she not only solidifies her reputation as a hitmaker, but also showcases her incredible versatility and artistic vision.”
They added that the musician’s latest offering showcases her ability to blend genres seamlessly.
Meanwhile, the Afropop singer and songwriter’s collaborations with the likes of Cassper Nyovest and Msaki on “Umusa”, Boohle on the album’s title track, “Uyazkhohlwa” and Zuko SA on “Muntu Wami”, speak volumes about her musical prowess.
She also used the album to send strong messages to fans, including with “Uyazkhohlwa”, which translates to “please behave yourself because you seem to forget who you are”.
“It is a reminder to a loved one to stay true to themselves in a world where people are trying to fit in,” the statement added.
“It is the song that reminds one to be rooted in who they are and when they feel lost and need to get back on track.”
In addition to her musical journey, Moh is also passionate about giving back to the community through her #24Drive campaign, which provides basic items to the less fortunate.
It has already made a positive impact in several locations, including in Gauteng and Durban, with the next campaign scheduled to take place in Pretoria soon.
Meanwhile, Moh has joined the likes of international amapiano DJ and producer Uncle Waffles, neo-R&B songstress Elaine and pop R&B doyenne Nanette Mbili, who will each grace the covers of global music platform Apple Music’s Alpha playlist in August.
These music change-makers join the likes of Beyoncé, who was the first artist to grace the cover earlier this year.
The playlist will touch on everything womanhood is about and is a place where listeners can find love and intimacy, hope and validation, intensity and rawness.
On being celebrated by Apple Music, Moh said in a statement that being a female artist is “mighty.”
“Not everyone has the ability to break chains that are meant to limit their creativity, only a superhuman can conquer such … We’re about to break more chains through our music.”
The Alpha playlists are currently available to stream on Apple Music.
