Durban – If Afro pop singer and sangoma from Inanda, north of Durban, Philly "Mkhulumpiyonke" Ngcobo, is not charged for her barbarous act against her deceased cat, then a cleansing ceremony awaits her.
Ngcobo recently confessed to using her cat for coitus acts.
She reportedly said that she would pour custard on her genital area, which the cat would reportedly lick off, for her sexual arousal and pleasure.
"If the cat finished licking it off before I reached my orgasm, I'd pour it again until I was sexually satiated," said Ngcobo.
She said she started feeling uneasy when the cat approached her while she was sitting with people, and it would climb on her and attempt to get under her skirt or dress.
Following her cat’s death after it was run over by a vehicle, Ngcobo said she would go for days without eating because of how sad she was, and said she often had suicidal thoughts.
Tanya Feircher, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) marketing manager, said that if ever Ngcobo was reported and a case was opened with the South African Police Services (SAPS), Ngcobo would face charges for violating the Animal Protection Act.
“If she is found guilty she would be charged under the Animal Protection Act. However, since this is from years ago, I am not sure who would be pressing charges against her, and where the evidence would come from,” said Feircher.
The president of the Traditional Healers Association, Sazi Mhlongo, has called on law enforcement authorities to arrest traditional healers who break the law under the pretext of following an ancestral calling.
Mhlongo said sleeping with an animal signalled the beginning of a psychological breakdown, and if Ngcobo does not get help, she would soon be a psychopath.
“Sleeping with cats or any animals is inhumane. Doing so would mean that a person is crazy and/or mentally disturbed,” said Mhlongo.
Mhlongo says Ngcobo should get in touch with a traditional healer who would help perform a cleansing ceremony for her, or she would be doomed.
“If a cleansing ceremony is not performed, any man who sleeps with her puts their life at risk, because they might die. She would also need to be cleansed so she can also be able to practise as a sangoma or traditional healer.”
Mhlongo said that he had close to 80 years of experience in traditional healing and attended many summits where sangomas and traditional healers met, but had never come across those who performed such lewd acts.
However, Ngcobo says she has been cleansed and in fact is now in a happy relationship.
“I am happy and my partner satisfies me in bed. We have been together since the beginning of the year. He truly takes good care of me, be it in bed or in any other way,” says Ngcobo.
Ngcobo said she could not disclose her boyfriend’s name because he was shy and did not want the attention he would get after the story was published.
Ngcobo used to be a dancer for the acapella group, Shabalala Rhythm, that was formed by Sibongiseni Shabalala, the son of the late Joseph Shabalala. Ngcobo came into the limelight when she released a diss track, Awusilo Itshishi, (loosely translated to "you are not a virgin") that was aimed at singer Kelly Khumalo.
