On Wednesday, The Good Luck Bar was bright with hints of blue, pink and yellow at the launch of the Gauteng Summer Cup.

At the event, we were given a sneak peek into what’s in store for this year’s race day.

The invite said "adult funland was going to bring naughtiness and titillating discoveries", so the hammer game at the door and the slide option to enter the venue were only for the brave.

Down the stairs was a variety of stalls, ranging from those offering food, such as waffles and gourmet burgers, to the more spicy kissing and poison darts stations.

The latter was no normal darts game. You had to throw the arrow at targets of different sizes pinned to the wall. When you hit one, you would have to drink a spirit which matched your target.

The pole in the middle of the floor in front of the stage attracted some curiosity. The dancers that performed during the launch made dancing on the pole look like a walk in the park.

If the launch is anything to go by, the cup is going to be one eventful do for Joburgers. It is set to take place at Turffontein on December 1, themed The People’s Race. The cup is one of the oldest equestrian events in Joburg.

Last year, a half-time show was launched, just before the main race. This year, electronic music band GoodLuck is billed to perform.

Last year social pioneers, trendsetters and charity organisations from around Gauteng were invited to create their own unique experience at the event, and the groups had the opportunity to invite guests to their marquees. This will be making a comeback at this year's race day.

The Gauteng Summer Cup also announced its headline sponsor G-BETS at the launch event. From now on, it will be called the G-BETS Gauteng Summer Cup.
