Lions bowler Lutho Sipamla flanked by representatives from Konica Minolta Gauteng enjoyed a ‘do-good’ afternoon.

Johannesburg - The Central Gauteng Lions (CGL) with the help of NPO, FeedSA, enjoyed a “do-good” on Monday afternoon, providing relief and assistance to those communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the second last day of Mandela month, the players, staff, coaches, umpires and grounds staff got stuck in to packing 2 500 personal hygiene/ sanitation hampers, with the aim of distributing them to schools and vulnerable communities in informal settlements.

FeedSA’s Roxy Priebatsch was well pleased with everyone’s efforts: “We are thrilled to partner this year again with CGL to pack and distribute these hampers in honour of Mandela Month. It was an incredible day filled with lots of hard work and dedication, and we are extremely grateful to all who participated!”

Themed “Give the gift of human dignity this Mandela Month”, the hampers cost R100 each and included sanitiser, mask, Safeguard Body Wash, antibacterial soap bar, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, sanitary pads, body lotion and Zambuk.

Wanele Mngomezulu, CGL’s marketing and communications manager, was delighted.

“The last 18 months or so have been a horrible time for thousands of people, which is why my heart is warmed at the sights seen today: our players, coaches, staff … everyone getting stuck into packing for those families that are in absolute need right now. And to FeedSA for doing an outstanding job – it was our honour to partner with you on a job well done today.”
