In an unbelievable twist of fate, a landlord discovered her residential property in Accra, Ghana, had been converted into a pulsating nightclub by her tenant, prompting outrage and viral attention across social media.
Mikah (@itspronouncedmeekuh) took to TikTok to share her alarming experience, revealing how, over two years, her family home had been transformed into an eclectic party venue without her knowledge or consent.
According to Mikah, who spoke candidly in a three-part video series, the saga began in early 2021 when she leased her mother’s property to a tenant who initially claimed he only required a residential space to host business partners.
“We understood he was renting the house, and from time to time he would accommodate his business associates,” she stated, expressing her distress that the arrangement had rapidly shifted without warning.
Things started to take a concerning turn early in the lease.
“Only two months in, he began making changes to the house,” she explained, noting that potential red flags were overlooked in light of the tenant's initial assurances.
As months passed, Mikah and her family became increasingly concerned, especially when they were barred from entering the property by the tenant's security personnel.
The turning point came when noise complaints from neighbours indicated something was amiss. Mikah’s shock escalated into disbelief when a friend invited her to the opening of a new club, and she realised the venue was, in fact, her home.
She also revealed that the tenant had not only failed to pay rent but had changed the character of the family property in the process.
Mikah highlighted that her mother relied on her retirement savings to renovate the typical Ghanaian house into what they believed was a modern home. The revelations have resonated deeply among viewers, racking up over 3.5 million views and sparking a flood of reactions.
Online, users were quick to express their opinions, with some residents echoing Mikah's concerns about the unpaid rent.
