As the Easter weekend approaches, South African National Parks (SANParks) is calling on visitors to the Kruger National Park (KNP) to make advance bookings and observe park regulations amidst expectations of a significant influx.
From Friday, April 18, to Monday, April 21, families are set to immerse themselves in the tranquil beauty of the bush, necessitating a proactive approach to ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit.
This year, KNP will enforce specific gate quotas during the peak holiday period, urging both seasoned and first-time visitors alike to reserve their spots online ahead of time.
“We anticipate a marked increase in vehicle entries and foot traffic during the Easter weekend,” a SANParks spokesperson stated.
“To ensure everyone’s experience is enjoyable, we encourage all visitors to secure their booking early and adhere to the outlined entry slot system.”

As part of enhanced operational measures, increased visibility of traffic officials and visitor management personnel will be instituted across the park.

Their primary mission will include monitoring compliance with park rules, specifically looking out for speeding, after-hours driving, and other violations.
Visitors are urged to respect the authorities and promptly report any inappropriate behaviour to gate officials or call the emergency centre as indicated on their entry permits.
In a pointed reminder, drivers of vehicles with temporary number plates are advised to provide their relevant documentation at park entrances.
Any vehicle lacking proper registration will be denied entry and may face impounding within the park grounds.
Offenders can expect to be charged under the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act, which underscores the serious nature of compliance.
SANParks is particularly keen to emphasise the importance of park rules, including the prohibition against tampering with 'No Entry' signs, as such actions can jeopardise the safety of all visitors.
