Comic Con Cape Town is gearing up for a spectacular family outing this year, with a plethora of features and engaging activities for fans of all ages. From 1 to 4 May 2025 the grounds of CTICC 2 will transform into a vibrant playground, showcasing exciting offerings from the KidsCon Zone, presented by a toy company, designed to make the festival an unforgettable experience for young fans and their families.
Festival Show Director Carla Massmann articulated the event's inclusive goal, stating, “Comic Con is for everyone, so it is important for us to ensure we have something for all visitors. With the show being such a self-expressive experience, it is always so wonderful to see families come out to the show as a unit, all dressed up.”

Among the many enchanting features, character meet and greets will be a highlight for the young ones. Kids will have the chance to meet pop culture icons such as Mario and Luigi, the Smurfs, and even the toy company's beloved Geoffrey the Giraffe. Additionally, popular YouTube sensations Noodle & Bun will also be making special appearances, ready to pose for photos and share warm smiles with their young fans.
Shopping at the toy company will be an adventure in itself. The activation promises a treasure trove of toys and merchandise from top brands such as LEGO, Funko, Marvel, Hot Wheels, Jada, Barbie, and Zuru. Children will love exploring this expansive selection, with exclusive games and merchandise available only at Comic Con Cape Town.
The festival will also feature a daily Kids Cosplay Competition right on the Comic Con Cape Town Main Stage. Young fans are encouraged to showcase their creativity by dressing as their favourite characters, with prizes to be won. Two competitions will be held each day, allowing for varied entries and artistic expressions.
Adding to the excitement, the KidsCon Zone will host the Freak Marbles Racing Championship, where kids can race collectible marbles. Participants can compete multiple times, with leaderboard displays announcing the swiftest racers set to win fantastic prizes.
For aspiring Pokémon trainers, the Scarlet & Violet Academy will offer a unique educational component. With Pokémon Professors on hand to teach the trading card game, children can engage in matches and themed activities that dive deep into the Pokémon universe. Mark your calendars for Saturday, 4 May, as Comic Con Cape Town celebrates Star Wars Day! Special Star Wars-themed merchandise will be available at Toys R Us, and the Kids Cosplay Competition will encourage children to dress as their favourite characters from this legendary franchise.
This year also brings an exciting collaboration between Minecraft and cosmetics retailer Lush, with exclusive products inspired by the game's unique elements. Kids will adore the specially designed items that blend the digital and physical worlds.
Offering even more fun, the KidsCon Zone will boast a Slush Puppie bar and the launch of an at-home Slush Puppie machine, ensuring kids have a blast indulging in cool treats throughout the festival.
