The Greater Tygerberg Partnership (GTP) has officially been named the content partner for Bellville in the City of Cape Town’s renowned Content Partnership Programme for 2025, a move that promises to put the spotlight on this dynamic suburb.
The contract was signed at a ceremony held on Thursday, 10 April 2025, signalling an exciting new chapter for promoting Bellville on both local and global stages.
This initiative, powered by the City’s Destination Marketing Unit, positions GTP as the strategic promoter of Bellville. The organisation will be responsible for capturing the essence of the area, showcasing its vibrant community, distinct attractions, and rich possibilities to audiences worldwide.
Now in its second year, the City Cape Town’s Content Partnership Programme is revolutionising destination marketing by leveraging a network of trusted partners. Unlike traditional marketing methods that rely heavily on centrally produced campaigns, this programme empowers local institutions and attractions—such as Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, and the Two Oceans Aquarium—to share authentic, homegrown stories. These narratives are then amplified through highly targeted digital campaigns aimed at international markets.
This year, Bellville joins this esteemed network, with GTP poised at the forefront, ready to unveil the vibrancy of the city’s second-largest metropolitan node.
“Bellville is more than just a place you pass through; it’s a place you arrive in,” remarks Warren Hewitt, CEO of GTP. “It’s alive with movement, ambition, and culture—ripe with opportunity. This partnership is our chance to share the true spirit of Bellville, where ideas take shape, futures are built, and people connect.”
Strategically located at the heart of Cape Town’s transport network, Bellville is rapidly evolving into a key destination for residents, students, and investors alike. The suburb boasts 350,000 daily trips through its bustling transport interchange,is home to three major universities, 150 schools, and Tygerberg Hospital, which is Africa’s second-busiest hospital. In addition, Bellville benefits from some of the fastest internet connectivity in the Western Cape, making it an attractive choice for those seeking to live, work, study, or invest in the Mother City.
Moreover, its proximity to Cape Town International Airport and its essential role as an intermodal hub to the Port provide Bellville with critical logistical advantages.
As a part of the Content Partnership Programme, GTP will curate quarterly content, including photos, videos, and written pieces that highlight Bellville’s unique offerings. This material will be distributed globally via paid campaigns on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, directed at specific international markets tailored by interest, language, and location.
The partnership extends beyond content creation; GTP also plans to host other content network members, providing immersive experiences that reveal the heart of Bellville. Such visits are designed to foster stronger relationships, inspire collaboration, and generate new, authentic narratives often captured spontaneously by those who experience them firsthand.
This aligns with GTP’s evolving identity focused on creating better places for people. Instead of a traditional top-down model of area promotion, GTP's approach is human-centric, amplifying real voices, real work, and real change.
With GTP serving as the City’s content partner for Bellville, this collaboration is part of a broader mission to unlock the suburb's potential as a thriving secondary city—not only for Cape Town but for South Africa and beyond. Bellville’s time is now, and the world is invited to watch, listen, and engage with its emerging story.
